1. SECRETS FOR ACCOMPLISHING MORE IN LESS TIME

The number one question people ask me is “How do you do it all? How do you run 10 Web sites, raise six children, and write books?” Whenever someone asks me this I just chuckle and tell them that if they could see my house, they’d understand! 2. NETWORKING IS ABOUT HELPING PEOPLE WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED

3. THE PROBLEM WITH TO-DO LISTS

Do you use to-do lists? Do you find it satisfying to check off the items on that list? Too satisfying perhaps? More than once I've found myself adding something I've already done to my daily list. I get to check it off then, you see. I get "credit" for all the things I've done. Whatever satisfaction this may give, it's also an indication I'm confusing effectiveness with just being busy.

4. CREATING MORE SUCCESSFUL PROPOSALS

The need for good proposals - the business kind, not the marriage kind - struck me again a couple of days ago, when I received a poor proposal. I had talked on the phone with a sales rep, and then she followed up with a proposal. You know what? Her proposal was even worse than her live sales pitch. It was a completely canned message, which wasted her time and mine. With that, some thoughts on creating effective proposals.

5. JOIN THE OUTSOURCE REVOLUTION

While it’s probably not true to say that the traditional 9-5 job is on its way out, it IS true that more and more businesses these days are starting to see the value of outsourcing the jobs they can’t cover themselves. Things like copywriting, PR, programming – even secretarial and admin support - are being outsourced to freelancers working from home or running their own business. But why? Well, if you’re a small business owner, outsourcing makes a lot of sense.
