How To Cope With Tough Times In Business
by Emmanuel Wilkey

How do you cope with the tough times? You've tried everything that other marketers have recommended, but unlike them, you are not making thousands of dollars. In fact, you are not even breaking even; You are showing a great big loss.

You start to get down-hearted and try to figure out why the hell did you ever get involved in this damn project in the first place. You scratch your head and think what's the answer do I give up?

NO!

You may not know it now, but you might be one small factor or tiny alteration away from turning all that misery around to complete joy.

So what factors do you need to review when times are hard.

* Know your site statistics - I know this doesn't bring you any new gained wealth immediately but how do you know that you're improving your results if you haven't got a bench mark to go by? Knowing your stats will help you from throwing away any more money. By proper analysis of your web traffic you can find out what advertising promotions are bringing in the most sales and which are just a total waste of time and money.

A good stats package is http://www.web-stat.com/index.shtml?id=1054 and is free for the first month.

* Use targeted traffic. The closer you can target your traffic the better your results should be. For example if you are a specialist fish chef and you list your site in a search engine under chef your results may be compromised as chef is so generic. Those people searching for this term could be after a variety of things. It would be even better if you found an ezine that specialized in fish cooking. You have already narrowed down what the readers desire.

* Improve the copy of your ads. This is not so easy to judge, but one thing you could do is subscribe to numerous ezines. When each ezine arrives, which ads do have the urge to click on? Write the good ads down and keep a small folder of the Ad copy. Then take the time to read them over. You will start to see some consistent wording stick out.

Things like a strong heading; immediate benefits identified and a call to action (like click here etc.). Try to follow the same pattern as these examples for your own copy.

Also you can get some good manuals on improving your copy writing skills from noted copywriters like Micheal Fortin or Sam Robbins.

If still there is no improvement, and you find that you are getting traffic to the site but no sales, then it can only be a problem with your site.

How do you improve your site?

The main thing to do is to have a strong benefit-ridden headline so your customer knows straight away what they can expect to get by staying at your site. Then good copy on the site keeps your customer engaged and stops them from leaving your site.

Have a way to continue communication with them, by giving away something for free in exchange for their email address. Not all customers purchase the first time they visit your site. Rather than losing these potential customers for good, you should attempt to continue contacting them so that they have the opportunity to buy from you in the future.

Put testimonials on your site. This shows that others have bought products from you and were happy with the product and the services you provided. If you have no testimonials yet, ask friends to give their opinions on your product or simply ask past customers for their views.

Make the site exciting and give your customer a reason to stick around. You could do this with a discussion board, free articles, a page that updates daily, a games or quiz page, or you decide.

Get the help of those that have already done it. Ask them questions, ask for their opinion on your site or Ad. They have done it all before and it is in their interest to help you.

Making slight changes to your marketing process and site can make the all important difference between having to give up your dream and gaining financial freedom.

So don't give up, you could be one tweak away from making it happen for you

Happy Marketing!
